When epoxy is the right choice

Epoxy is hard, strong and chemically resistant: the logical basis for production halls, warehouses, workshops and laboratories, where a floor has to withstand impact, pressure and spills without opening up. The Comforpox series runs from a thin coating to a self-levelling floor of several millimetres, so the system matches the load.

The options within the series

• Smooth self-levelling floors for spaces that must be liquid-tight and easy to clean: 800 SL E in the standard version, 800 SL Q in high gloss with an optional quartz filling.
• Conductive for electronics, cleanrooms and laboratories: 802 ESD discharges static electricity to earth in a controlled way.
• High-build coatings when a self-levelling floor is excessive but a thin coat too light: 870 HB, and 865 FL-HB, which also works on timber mezzanine floors.
• Slip resistance retrofitted with 875 Recoat AS, which gives a worn-smooth epoxy floor its grip back without demolition.
• Decorative with Granitec, a water-permeable gravel floor for driveways, terraces, entrances and showrooms.

What epoxy cannot do

Epoxy discolours in daylight and does not tolerate thermal shock. If your space is in full sun, is steam-cleaned, or has products moving across the floor from the freezer, a polyurethane cement system from the Quartzline PU CEM or Ucrete series is the right answer. We advise on what happens in the space, not on what is in the range.

How we arrive at a choice

During the site survey we look at mechanical load, chemical load, temperature, cleaning method and the required slip resistance, and we assess the substrate for adhesion, moisture and cracking. The system and layer thickness follow from that, not the other way round.
