Water-permeable gravel paving for outdoors
Terradec is a seamless, water-permeable gravel surface for terraces, paths and driveways. Rainwater drains through the surface into the sub-base, leaving no puddles, no loose stones and no weeds in joints.
Traditional paving drains rainwater to the sewer. Terradec does the opposite: water passes through the surface and infiltrates and buffers in the sub-base. No puddles, no falls towards a drain, and no peak load on the sewer during a downpour. Where local authorities require rainwater to be handled on site, that is often exactly what is asked for.
The system was developed in collaboration with Ghent University, in response to the demand for a modern water-permeable surface with a large buffer capacity.
No loose stones in the lawn, no weeds in the joints because there are no joints, no sunken pavers around a drain or column, and no puddles after rain. The binder is UV-stable and does not yellow, unlike an epoxy-bound gravel floor.
Terradec is laid on a flat, compacted and water-permeable foundation with stable edge restraint, with a flatness of 5 mm under a 2 metre straightedge. That sub-base is not a detail: it determines whether the water can drain away and whether the surface stays flat.
