Epoxy wear layers

A wear layer is a choice for traffic

Where forklifts, pallet trucks and roll containers define the floor, the criterion is wear resistance. A broadcast epoxy wear layer gives a seamless, liquid-tight floor with a slip-resistant surface that stands up to intensive vehicle traffic.

The two versions

• Multidur EB-10 in 2 to 3 mm with slip resistance R12, for predominantly dry areas where wear resistance is what counts.
• Multidur EB-20 in 2 to 4 mm, fully broadcast, with R12 and displacement volume V6 for wet and greasy conditions.

What V6 means

The R class describes slip resistance; the V value describes how much liquid can escape beneath the shoe before the surface becomes slippery. With fat or oil on the floor, that second value is the number that counts, and the reason we choose per zone.

The figures

Both systems are built on solvent-free epoxy resin, with a compressive strength of 140 N/mm2 and a flexural strength of 45 N/mm2 in the topcoat, and an adhesion strength of at least 1.5 N/mm2 with concrete failure. They are low in odour and low in emissions, with AgBB conformity and French emission class A plus. The floor takes foot traffic approx. 24 hours after application and light loads after approx. 4 days.

Cleaning is part of the choice

A broadcast floor needs cleaning with a brush or a scrubber-dryer, so that dirt is lifted out of the texture. A coarse profile that is only mopped looks dirty sooner than necessary. We include that in our advice.
