Permeable bound gravel surface of 20 mm for pedestrians
Terradec 2cm is a seamless, water-permeable bound gravel surface for terraces, garden paths and walkways. No puddles, no loose stones and no weeds in the joints. Load class pedestrians.
Traditional paving drains rainwater to the sewer. Terradec does the opposite: water passes through the surface and infiltrates and buffers in the sub-base. No puddles, no falls to a drain and no peak load on the sewer. Where local authorities require rainwater to be handled on site, this is often the answer.
Terradec was developed in collaboration with Ghent University, in response to the demand for a modern permeable surface with a large buffer capacity.
Carefully selected quartz grains are bound with a hard-elastic polyurethane binder. The result is seamless: no loose stones in the lawn, no joints for weeds and no edges that subside. The binder is UV-stable, does not yellow as epoxy does, and has a VOC content below 1 per cent.
You choose from the Terradec collection of 8 granulate colours. The binder is transparent, so the colour of the granulate is decisive.
This thickness is for pedestrian loads only; for driveways and parking bays, Terradec 4cm is the right system. Regular use of a wheelbarrow, site cart or garden machinery is agreed in advance. The surface is laid on a flat, compacted foundation with a stable edge restraint, flat to 5 mm under a 2 metre straightedge. Remove leaves and sand regularly so that the open structure remains permeable. The surface takes foot traffic after 6 hours and mechanical loads after 2 days.
