Why a vapour-permeable coating outdoors

Exterior concrete keeps releasing moisture, years after pouring and after every shower. A vapour-tight coating traps it beneath the layer and is pushed off, which shows as blisters and lifted edges. Comforcoat 915 WB lets water vapour through, so the concrete keeps breathing and the coating stays in place.

Where we apply this

• Outdoor areas, terraces, balconies and access galleries
• Upstands, raised edges and concrete elements
• Concrete stairs, ramps and walkways, with slip resistance where required
• Vertical work such as concrete walls and skirtings
• Bare concrete that needs an even colour

Installation

The coating is roller-applied in one or two coats on a water-based primer, so the work is completed quickly with little disruption. The material is water-based, solvent-free and low-odour, which matters on occupied galleries and balconies. The surface is satin-gloss and easy to clean.

Adhesion to concrete is more than 1.5 N/mm2. The coating resists plasticisers from car tyres and has good chemical resistance. Wear in the Taber test with CS10 wheels is approx. 65 mg after 1.000 cycles.

What to bear in mind

This is a thin coating: unevenness, cracks and the texture of the concrete remain visible. Under permanent direct sunlight the colour may shift slightly, without affecting performance. Where water stands or the surface is in full sun all day, we assess in advance whether this is the right system. The floor takes foot traffic 24 hours after coating and full loads after 7 days.
