Comforcon QCF

The floor that is replaced between two shifts

Some spaces cannot stop: a commercial kitchen, a production line, a wash-up kitchen in a hospital. Closing for a weekend is not an option there and a week is unthinkable. Comforcon QCF is built up with methyl methacrylate, so every layer takes foot traffic after about one hour at 20 °C. In practice that means the kitchen closes at 22:30 and the morning shift stands on a new floor at 6:00.

That speed is the reason this system exists: it saves whole production days.

The same quartz floor, a different binder

In appearance and use this is the same quartz composite floor as the rest of the QCF series: trowel-mark free, fully seamless, 3 to 4 mm thick, with a standard slip resistance of approximately R11 and in line with the HACCP guideline. The quartz granules of 0.3 to 0.8 mm or 0.8 to 1.2 mm are washed and kiln-dried, naturally rounded by erosion in river beds rather than crushed, and coloured at high temperature with specially developed coatings. You choose from the QCF S collection of 39 colours.

Two things to know beforehand

MMA has a very penetrating odour during application. It disappears after curing, but during the work it can be smelled throughout the building. We inform staff in advance, cover or remove foodstuffs, provide extraction and ventilation, and coordinate beforehand with other tenants or adjoining homes.

The topcoat is also slightly more matt than in the epoxy version. Where appearance outweighs lead time, Completec QCF is the better choice.

What to bear in mind

Do not use hot water: it can turn the topcoat white and cause cracking with prolonged exposure. We therefore always drain hot water via gullies, and a flexible topcoat is available for areas with a lot of hot water. The trowel-applied floor follows the contours of the substrate, so missing falls are adjusted in consultation. The floor takes light loads after 48 hours and full mechanical loads after 7 days.
